Major indices of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) surged in early Monday trade to new record highs, supported by the recent strong employment data and positive sentiment in Wall Street towards signs for recovery from the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up by about 402 points, or 1.21%, at 33,554.73 points, while the S&P 500 is 58 points, or 1.44%, at 4,077.46 points. These are new record highs for both indices.
Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite surged by 1.35% to 13,662.22 points.
The tech-savvy index remains below its all-time high recorded in February by about 5%, due to the recent losses that resulted from a surge in Treasury bond yields.
Earlier today, data suggested a healthy performance by the U.S. services industry last month.
