Wall Street continued to break new record highs, with two of the main indices on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) finishing Friday at new all-time highs after data showed a huge surge in U.S. employment during July.
Data provided support for expectations of a strong economic recovery and an improvement in the labor market conditions.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 144.26 points, or 0.4%, to finish at a record 35,208.51 points, adding 0.8% for the week.
The S&P 500 index closed higher by 7.42 points, or 0.2%, at a record 4,436.52 points, extending its weekly rise to 0.9%.
Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite Index leveled down by 59.36 points, or 0.4%, to 14,835.76 points, narrowing the weekly increase to 1.1%.
