The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) finished Friday with large gains, supported by the rise of many sectors led by tech, healthcare, and financial services, amid positive expectations for economic recovery that reflected positively on Wall Street.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 453.4 points, or 1.39%, to close at 33,072.88 points, increasing by 1.4% for the week.
The S&P 500 surged by 65.02 points, or 1.66%, to close at a new record high of 3,974.54 points, extended its gains year-to-date to 5.8%, and rising by 1.6% on a weekly basis.
Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite increased by 161.05 points, or 1.24%, to finish at 13,138.73 points, limiting its weekly losses to 0.6%.
