U.S. Job Openings Rise in December: JOLTS

Job openings in the United States increased last December, as shown by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS).

The number of job openings rose to 6.65 million in December from a revised 6.57 million in November, reaching its highest level in five months as the economy recovers from the Coronavirus pandemic.

The number of people who voluntary quit their jobs grew to 3.29 million, raising the quits rate to 2.3% that is the highest since February 2020.

Layoffs and quits combined declined to 5.46 million from 5.52 million in the previous month.
