U.S. Consumer Confidence Rises in February

Consumer confidence in the United States improved in February, reaching its highest level in three months, as the American economy is recovering from the impacts of the Coronavirus pandemic.

However, confidence remained well below its pre-pandemic levels, data by the Conference Board showed on Tuesday.

The consumer sentiment index rose to 91.3 in February from a revised reading of 88.9 in January.

The current conditions index increased to 92 from 85.5 in January.

Survey respondents now expect the inflation rate to rise to 6.3%, the highest expectation since June 2020.

“Consumers remain cautiously optimistic, on the whole, about the outlook for the coming months.”
