The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) finished lower on Thursday, with tech stocks leading the decline.
In addition, a rise in Treasury bond yields to their highest level in more than two weeks weighed on the stock market.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped by 23.34 points, or 0.07%, to close at 34,577 points.
The S&P 500 declined by 15.27 points, or 0.36%, to finish at 4,192.85 points.
Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite Index dropped by 141.82 points, or 1.03%, to end the session at 13,614.51 points.
The market is anticipating Friday’s release of last month’s jobs and U.S. employment data, with expectations such data will provide a clearer indicator of the economic recovery.
