NYSE Retreats from Record Highs to Close Mostly Lower

The main indices of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) finished mostly lower on Monday, amid concerns about the spread of the coronavirus Delta variant, with some countries returning to lockdown and preventive measures, casting shadows on the prospects for a strong global economic rebound.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 106.66 points, or 0.3%, to close at 35,101.85 points.

The S&P 500 index declined by 4.17 points, or 0.1%, to end the first session of the week at 4,432.35 points.

Both indices finished last week at new record highs.

Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite Index added 24.42 points, or 0.2%, to finish at 14,860.18 points.
