Wall Street Closes Higher as Risk Sentiment Improves

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) finished mostly higher on Wednesday, as risk sentiment improves with recent remarks by the Federal Reserve officials easing inflation fears among Wall Street investors, especially in the absence of important economic data.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose marginally by 10.6 points, or 0.03%, reversing earlier declines and closing at the level of 34,323.05 points.

Meanwhile, the S&P 500 gained 7.86 points, or 0.19%, to finish at 4,195.99 points.

The Nasdaq Composite Index closed higher by 80.8 points, or about 0.6%, at 13,738 points.

Although U.S. Treasury bond yields rose compared with their level on Tuesday, they remained lower than their level in the previous four sessions, which also provided support to the stock market.

It is worth mentioning that today marked the 125th anniversary of the Dow Jones Industrial Average Index. The index’s debut on the market took place on May 26, 1896.
