U.S. Unemployment Rate Declines to 6% in March

The Unemployment rate in the United States declined to 6% in March, from 6.2% in February, after the economy added 916,000 jobs last month, according to data by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Taking into account those who are classified as employed but are absent from work, the unemployment rate would be at 6.4% last month.

The official number of the unemployed in the U.S. is estimated at 9.7 million, of which 4.218 million people, or 43.4%, have been unemployed for more than 27 weeks, entering long-term unemployment, which stood at 41.5% in February.
