Wall Street Closes at New Record Highs

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) closed Thursday at new record highs, supported by hopes for a new stimulus package in the United States, with Wall Street maintaining an upbeat sentiment on vaccine rollout.

This comes following the last Federal Reserve meeting of the year, in which the American central bank vowed to support the economy until it achieved recovery.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed higher by 148.83 points, or 0.49%, to finish at 30,303.37 points.

The S&P 500 gained 21.31 points, or 0.58%, to close at 3,722.48 points.

Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite settled higher by 106.6 points, or 0.84%, at 12,764.75 points.

This is the highest closing level ever for the three main indices of Wall Street.

Similarly, the Russell 2000 surged by 1.30% to close at an unprecedented 1,978.05 points.
