US Nonfarm Payrolls rise in September

Nonfarm Payrolls (NFP) in the United States increased by 336,000 in September, according to the US Bureau of Labour Statistics (BLS) on Friday. This reading was significantly higher than the market forecast of 170,000. The 187,000 increase in August was also raised higher to 227,000.

The unemployment rate stayed at 3.8%, and labour force participation remained at 62.8%. Other figures from the jobs report revealed that annual pay inflation, as measured by changes in Average Hourly Earnings, fell to 4.2% from 4.3%.

With the instant reaction, the US Dollar (USD) gained strength against its key rivals. At the time of publication, the US Dollar Index was up 0.45% for the day, standing at 106.80. The 10-year US Treasury bond yield has also gained traction, increasing over 3% on the day to 4.85%.
