UK Vaccination Programme Getting Under Way

The process of vaccination against the Coronavirus officially began in Britain, after the authorities allowed the use of Pfizer and Biontech vaccine a week ago, thus becoming the first in-country in Europe to start mass vaccination of the people in what was called a critical turning point in eliminating the Coronavirus.

Mass vaccination will increase hope that the world will reach a turning point in the fight against the epidemic that has devastated economies and killed more than one and a half million people, although storage in extremely cold temperatures and difficult logistics will limit its use at the present time.

Britain is the European country most affected by Covid-19, with 61,000 deaths, but Prime Minister Boris Johnson hopes to change the course of the current by introducing the Pfizer and Biontech vaccine before the United States or the European Union.

Britain has ordered a total of 40 million doses of the vaccine, and one will receive two doses. This number is sufficient to vaccinate 20 million people in the country of 67 million people.

It is expected that about 800 thousand doses will be provided in the first week, and the priority for getting the vaccine will be for those receiving care at home, caregivers, people over 80 years of age and some health authority workers.
