U.S. Adds Chinese Oil Giant CNOOC to Blacklist

The United States Department of Commerce added on Thursday China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) to its blacklist due to belligerent actions in the South China Sea, AFP reported.

Accordingly, S&P Dow Jones indices has to de-list the company.

“China’s reckless and belligerent actions in the South China Sea and its aggressive push to acquire sensitive intellectual property and technology for its militarization efforts are a threat to US national security and the security of the international community,” said the Secretary of Commerce, Wilbur Ross, in an official statement.
