The Unemployment Rate in Germany Fell for the Third Month in a Row

Data showed a decline in the number of unemployed in Germany for the third month in a row in September, in a positive sign of household spending that is expected to lead the recovery from the Corona crisis in the largest economy in Europe.

The Labor Office said that the number of unemployed decreased by 8 thousand to 2.907 million, after adjusting in light of seasonal factors. The unemployment rate fell to 6.3% from 6.4% in the previous month.

The number of part-time workers, a system that avoids the labor market fallout from the pandemic, fell to 4.24 million in July from a peak of around 6 million in April at the height of the pandemic.
