Germany will try to ban British travelers from entering the European Union, regardless of whether they have received a COVID-19 vaccine or not, the Times newspaper said.
The newspaper added that German Chancellor Angela Merkel wants to classify Britain as a “country of concern” due to the large spread of the Delta strain of the Corona virus there.
She said the plans would be discussed by senior officials of the European Union’s Integrated Political Crisis Committee and opposed by Greece, Spain, Cyprus, Malta and Portugal.
Merkel is due to meet British Prime Minister Boris Johnson at Checkers, his official country residence, next week.
Britain plans to unveil plans next month to allow fully vaccinated people to travel without restrictions to all countries except for those with the highest risk of Covid-19.
