Tesla Tops Industry In Profit Per Vehicle Despite Faulty Cybertrucks

Tesla has topped the auto industry in profit per vehicle for the year through March, with Tesla’s net profit being the highest among top automakers. Nine of 12 top global automakers made more money per vehicle in the year ended March than the previous year due to recovering supply chains and rising sales prices.

Tesla is the top-performing company in this category, with Tesla and BYD leading the pack. Tesla is also issuing a physical recall of its Cybertruck, recalling 11,688 electric pickups due to a faulty windshield wiper that could reduce visibility for the driver and 11,383 Cybertrucks due to loose trim in the truck bed.

This follows a recall in April affecting 3,878 Cybertrucks over the risk of a jammed accelerator pedal. Tesla service will replace the wiper motor, apply adhesion promoter and pressure sensitive tape, or replace missing applique as necessary, free of charge.

Elon Musk once said that “we dug our own grave with Cybertruck,” and dozens of the polarizing Cybertrucks were defaced with shameful words in black spray paint before the recalls.
