OPEC praises Libya’s role in global oil market

OPEC Secretary-General Haitham Al-Ghais has congratulated the Libyan people on the 71st anniversary of the national Independence Day.

Al-Ghais stated that OPEC has benefited from Libya’s contribution during the past years, since the signing of the cooperation agreement in 2016, as well as by combating the Corona virus 2020. He also pointed out that OPEC and member states have always relied on Libya’s commitment and the role it plays during these years, saying he looks forward to visit Libya next year.

In November 2016, 23 oil-exporting countries signed an agreement known as “OPEC Plus” designed to reduce production and improve oil prices in global markets in a bid to protect the interests of both producers and consumers.
