NYSE Closes Lower Following Fed’s Meeting Minutes

The main indices of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) finished lower on Wednesday, following the release of the United States Federal Reserve’s April meeting minutes, which showed an intention to discuss the future of the large asset purchases in upcoming meetings.

Recent mixed economic data and the Fed’s remarks indicating that the U.S. economy remains far from reaching its targets weighed down on the stock market.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 162.62 points, or 0.48%, to finish at 33,896.04 points.

The S&P 500 dropped by 12.15 points, or 0.29%, to close at 4,115.68 points.

Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite marginally fell by 3.90 points, or 0.03%, to end the session at 13,299.74 points.
