Germany’s Unemployment Rate Exceeds Expectations in September

The number of unemployed individuals in Germany increased more than anticipated in September, according to data released by the federal labor office on Friday.

The report indicated that the number of unemployed rose by 17,000, reaching a total of 2.82 million when adjusted for seasonal variations. Analysts surveyed by Reuters had predicted an increase of 12,000.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained steady at 6.0%.
