Fed’s Powell: Climate Change Not Considered in Policy Setting

The Chairman of the U.S. Federal Reserve, Jerome Powell, said on Friday that the central bank is not something that plays a major role in setting the central bank’s policy.

“Today, climate change is not something that we directly consider in setting monetary policy.”

“All of those things can affect employment, inflation and interest rates over time.”

“We are not, and do not seek to be, climate policy makers as such.”
