The United Nations has revised its expectations for economic growth in Latin America in 2021, according to the latest data by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
The region is now expected to register a growth rate of 5.9%, amid recovery from the Coronavirus crisis, with the same growth rate of 2.9% expected in 2022.
This is compared with a previous growth estimate of 5.2% last month.
Brazil’s economy is now expected to grow by 5.2%, up from 4.5%.
Mexico’s economy is now seen growing by 6.2%, versus a previous estimate of 5.8%.
