European Stocks Close Mostly Lower Despite Positive Data

European stocks showed a mixed performance on Thursday, as positive economic data boosted investors’ sentiment amid anticipation for the May jobs report in the U.S.

The STOXX Europe 600 index lost 0.12% to close at 450.79 points, after finishing at a new record high on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the basic resources sector plunged by 1.9% with major mining stocks seeing losses.

The French CAC40 index closed lower by 0.21%, and the UK’s FTSE100 also declined by 0.61%.

In Germany, the DAX benchmark index gained 0.19% and closed at 15,632.67 points.
