European Stocks Finish Lower but FTSE100 Surges

European stocks closed marginally lower on Wednesday, a day after logging a new record high, as healthcare stocks led the declining sectors.

The pan-European STOXX 600 index finished lower by 0.14%, with the healthcare sector declining by 0.9%, while the insurance sector rose by 0.6%.

The German benchmark index (DAX) and the French CAC40 shed 0.24% and 0.01%, respectively.

Meanwhile, the main index of the London Stock Exchange (LSE) added 0.91%, supported by the British Pound (GBP) decline against the U.S. Dollar (USD) and optimism about the rollout of vaccines across the UK, and anticipation for easing lockdown measures.
