UK Plans to Gradually Ease Lockdown Measures

Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK), Boris Johnson, revealed on Monday a plan to gradually ease the lockdown measures imposed as a precaution against the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.

In the first step, schools in England are set to reopen on March 8. In the same time, minimum gatherings of two people will be allowed in public spaces, such as parks and cafes.

Afterwards, it will not be obligatory to stay home by March 29, however, people will be advised to continue working from home. In addition, gatherings of two households or six people will be allowed.

In the second step, other forms of non-essential shops, such as hairdressers, will be allowed to reopen starting April 12.

The plan includes a goal of returning to normal with a complete reopen by June 21.

The progress in implementing the plan will depend on the state of the pandemic based on the available data.

This comes as the UK is rapidly distributing coronavirus vaccines, aiming at vaccinating every adult in the country with his first shot by the end of next July.
