Canadian Ivey PMI Retreats in September

Canada’s Ivey Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) declined in September to a seasonally adjusted reading of 54.3, compared with 67.8 in August.

However, the index rose on an annual basis, compared with its level in September 2019 at 48.7, according to data by the Richard Ivey School of Business at Western University.

The decline of the index is lower than that expected in the initial reading of 61.1 last month, compared with an unadjusted reading of 64.6 for August and 55.8 for September 2019.

Meanwhile, the Ivey Employment Index registered 54.9 in September, down from 59.9 in August, while the Ivey Inventories Index fell to 46 from 52.4.

The Ivey Supplier Deliveries Index also plunged to 42.8 from 51.4, while the Ivey Prices Index rose to 59.4 from 56.4 in August and 55.1 in the corresponding month of last year.
