Data revealed that new car registrations in Europe decreased in July and August, but not at the same level as the previous months, indicating a slow recovery in the European auto sector, which was severely affected by the Corona pandemic.
In July, new car registrations dropped by 3.7% year-on-year to 1,281,740 vehicles in the European Union, Britain and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries, statistics from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) showed
The data revealed a 17.6% decline in car sales in August to 884,394 vehicles, as all countries in the region except Cyprus recorded losses compared to the previous year. Registration fell sharply in Germany and France, while it decreased slightly in Italy.
This followed a further decline in sales, which reached 24.1% in June and 56.8% in May.
