UK Unemployment Rate Rises For The First Time Since The Restrictions

Official data showed that the unemployment rate in Britain rose for the first time since the imposition of general isolation measures to combat the Coronavirus in March.

The Office for National Statistics said the unemployment rate increased to 4.1% in the three months ending in July from 3.9% between April and June.

Economists polled by Reuters had expected the unemployment rate to rise to 4.1%. But the drop in headcount numbers was less severe than expected at 12,000, compared with the median forecast of a decline of 125,000.
