The Nikkei benchmark index fell in early trading on the Tokyo Stock Exchange on Wednesday.

The Nikkei fell 0.13% to 23,425.23 points, while the broader TIOUX index fell 0.11% to 1639.02 points .0.13 p% to 23,425.23 points, while the broader Topix index fell 0.11% to 1639.02 points.
