The Chinese government has promised the United States to go through with the first phase of the trade deal between the world’s two largest economies, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a TV interview on Friday.
“The Chinese have done some of the work they need to do on the purchasing they committed to continuing to fulfill that obligation. But you have to remember there’s a lot of obligations that go far beyond just purchasing American products.”
Recent remarks by White House economic advisor Larry Kudlow and Robert Lighthizer, the US Trade Representative, suggested satisfaction by the Trump administration regarding the progress made in implementing the trade agreement.
