China Reports 61 New Covid-19 Cases

The National Health Commission of China said on Monday that it had recorded 61 new infections with the COVID 19 up from 46 the previous day, adding that it had detected the most significant number of local infections with the virus since early March.

The commission said the new number included 57 local infections, noting that it was the largest since March 6, when 75 infections were reported.

Of the new infections, 41 were in the far western region of Xinjiang, 14 were in the northeastern province of Liaoning and two in northeastern province of Jilin, while the remaining four were imported cases, according to a statement by the National Health Commission.

As of Sunday, the commission said, China had recorded 83,891 confirmed injuries, while the death toll remains steady at 4,634.
