US Nonfarm Payrolls Surge by 175,000 in April

The latest report from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) revealed that Nonfarm Payrolls (NFP) in the US increased by 175,000 in April. This figure marks a slight slowdown compared to the revised increase of 315,000 (originally reported as 303,000) recorded in March and fell short of the market’s expectation of 238,000.

Digging deeper into the report, the Unemployment Rate experienced a marginal uptick, rising to 3.9% from the previous 3.8%. Meanwhile, the Labor Force Participation Rate remained unchanged at 62.7%. Additionally, there was a decline in wage inflation, with the Average Hourly Earnings showing a decrease to 3.9% on an annual basis, down from 4.1%.
