Yellen Vows Quick Distribution of State and Local Aid

The United States Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said on Tuesday that the Department will aim at quickly distributing $350 billion of state and local government aid, as part of the $1.9 trillion relief bill that is expected to be passed by Congress tomorrow.

“In the coming days our Treasury team is going to work to get this aid out in the quickest way possible, and the one that produces the greatest economic impact,” Yellen was quoted by Reuters as saying in her remarks to the National League of Cities conference.

“If we do our job, I am confident that Americans will make it to the other side of this pandemic, and be met there by some measure of prosperity.”

“By the end of the year, I expect your city economies will resemble 2019 much more than 2020.”
