Wall Street Opens Higher on Renewed Hopes For a Stimulus Agreement

Major US stock indices opened higher today, Monday, thanks to hopes that a vaccine for the Coronavirus will be available by the end of the year, while investors are also encouraged by indications that an agreement will soon be reached in Washington on a financial package.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 27.24 points, equivalent to 0.10%, to reach 28,633.55 points, the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index increased by 9.85 points, or 0.28%, to record 3,493.66 points, and the Nasdaq Composite Index advanced 60.78 points, or 0.52%, to 11732.34 points.
