The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) finished Wednesday’s trading session with a mixed performance, as the technology sector rebounded. Meanwhile, the main three indices on Wall Street closed March with the fourth consecutive quarterly gains, supported by an improved sentiment towards economic recovery.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 85.41 points, or 0.26%, to finish at 32,981.55 points, adding 7.8% during the first quarter (Q1) of 2021, including a 6.6% monthly rise in March.
The S&P 500 rose by 14.34 points, or 0.36%, to settle at 3,972.89 points, increasing by 4.2% in March and by 5.8% in Q1. Earlier today, the index hit its intra-day record high near 4,000.
Similarly, the Nasdaq Composite Index leveled up by 201.48 points, or 1.54%, to close at 13,246.87 points, rising gaining 0.4% in March and 2.8% in Q1.
