Wall Street Finish Lower Ahead of Stimulus Deadline

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) showed a fluctuating performance on Monday, before closing the first session of the week in losses, amid worries in Wall Street about the passing of a new stimulus package to support the economy against the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, recently set Tuesday as the deadline for reaching an agreement with the Republicans about a new relief package ahead of the November elections.

In addition, some negative financial disclosures by listed companies led NYSE indices to finish in red.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined by 1.44%, while the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite indices lost 1.63% and 1.65%, respectively.
