The main indices of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) closed at new record highs on Monday, opening the second week of February with a strong performance that build up on the recent surges, which come on the back of improved risk sentiment among Wall Street investors and anticipation for recovery signs and increased government stimulus in the United States.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished higher by 237.52 points, or 0.8%, at a record closing level of 31,385.76 point.
This is the fifth time this year that the index closes at a new all-time high.
Similarly, the S&P 500 index gained 28.76 points, or 0.7%, and finished at a record 3,915.59 points, its eighth record-breaking closing level since the beginning of 2021.
Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite COMP increased by 131.35 points, or 1%, and settled at a record level of 13,987.64 points. This is the ninth time for the index to score a new record closing level this year.
