Wall Street Closes Mostly Lower as Treasury Yields Rise

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) indices closed mostly lower on Monday, beginning the week with a mixed performance amid a rise by the U.S. Treasury yields which negatively impacted the sentiment of Wall Street investors.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished higher by 27.37 points, or 0.1%, at 31,521.69 points.

The S&P 500 index lost 30.21 points, or 0.8%, and settled at 3,876.50 points, falling for the fifth consecutive session. This is the longest losing streak for the benchmark index since February of last year.

Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite index dropped by 341.41 points, or 2.5%, and closed at 13,533.05 points. This is the worst daily performance for the index since January 27.
