Wall Street Closes Lower on Negative Data

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) finished lower on Tuesday, as negative economic data reflected negatively on the risk sentiment among Wall Street investors.

In addition, reflation fears and expectations about possible monetary policy changes by the United States Federal Reserve also affected the market.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 81.52 points, or 0.24%, to close at 34,312.46 points.

The S&P 500 index finished lower by 8.92 points, or 0.21%, at 4,188.13 points, while the Nasdaq Composite Index marginally declined by 4 points, or 0.03%, to end the session at 13,657.17 points.

Earlier today, data showed declines in U.S. consumer confidence and new home sales.
