The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) closed lower on Tuesday, with Wall Street investors shifting their focus towards the Federal Reserve meeting, which is concluding on Wednesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed lower by 94.42 points, or 0.27%, at 34,299.33 points.
Meanwhile, the S&P 500 declined by around 8.56 points, or 0.2%, to finish at 4,246.59 points.
The Nasdaq Composite index plunged by 101.29 points, or 0.71%, and closed at 14,072.86 points.
Recent economic data showed mixed signs about the state of the economic recovery in the U.S., however, positive signs remains on the trajectory with the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq closing at record highs yesterday.
