Wall Street Closes Higher Following Jobless Claims Drop

The main indices of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) finished higher on Thursday, despite earlier fluctuations, as Wall Street investors anticipate more positive economic indicators.

Earlier today, official data showed a decline in the new claims for unemployment benefits to their lowest level since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 318.19 points, or 0.93%, to close at a new record high of 34,548.53 points, its 23 of the year.

The S&P 500 finished higher by 34.03 points, or 0.82%, at 4,201.62 points.

Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite added 50.42 points, or 0.37%, to settle at 13,632.84 points.
