The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) finished higher on Monday, opening the week with solid gains on the back of a strong rebound by technology stocks, amid hopes in Wall Street for the economic recovery and a decline in Treasury bond yields.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by about 186 points, or 0.54%, to close at 34,393.98 points, registering its third consecutive rise.
The S&P 500 index closed higher by 41.2 points, or about 1%, at 4,197.05 points.
Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite Index ended the session at 13,661.17 points, gaining 190.18 points, or 1.41%.
Recent positive economic indicators enhanced the hopes for recovery from the coronavirus pandemic, boosting risk sentiment among investors.
