US Consumer Spending Slows in August

Consumer spending in the United States slowed last month, according to data released on Wednesday.

The value of overall sales increased 0.6%.

Retail sales, excluding automobiles, gasoline, building materials, and food services, decreased by 0.1% in August, after rising by 0.9% in July, as per the reading revised from a previous 1.4%.
