The US Senate set a vote on Tuesday on passing a bipartisan $1 trillion infrastructure bill that is one of President Joe Biden’s top priorities and then will immediately begin debating a far-reaching $3.5 trillion bill.
In this regard, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced late Monday that a week-long debate on the bipartisan bill will conclude on Tuesday when a vote on its passage is held, which is expected.
The Senate is then expected to vote to begin debating the larger bill here – a budget outline that is a major goal of progressive Democrats.
Documents revealed earlier on Monday showed they would pave the way for legislation later this year that would provide tax incentives for “clean” manufacturing, make community college free for two years and provide a path to citizenship for millions of migrant workers.
The budget plan also provides for new federal assistance for social programs, including home health care for the elderly. The first bill here, which is 2,702 pages long, is high on Biden’s domestic agenda and includes $550 billion in new spending on roads, bridges, and Internet access.
