S&P Records Historic Gains in August

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) closed the first day of the week and the last of August mixed, but was able to achieve high monthly gains.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished lower by 223.82 points, or 0.78%, at 28,430.05 points.

The S&P 500 index declined by 7.70 points, or 0.22%, to close at 3,500.31, gaining 7.01 for the month in its biggest August rise since 1986.

On the other hand, the Nasdaq Composite increased by 79.82 points, or 0.68%, to end at a new record at 11,775.46 points.
