S&P and Dow Settle Higher while Nasdaq Closes in Red

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) closed Tuesday after a mixed performance, as the market was feeling a positive sentiment towards a new economy stimulus package, which is set to be approved by the US Congress.

However, concerns remain to cast their shadows as the number of COVID-19 cases remains on the rise.

The White House is restoring daily press briefings about the pandemic.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.60% or about 160 points to close at 26,840.40.

The S&P 500 index settled higher by 0.17% at 3,257.30, while the Nasdaq Composite declined by 0.81% and settled at 10,680.36.

This comes one day after Nasdaq broke its all-time record high for the 28th time in 2020.
