The largest U.S. manufacturers including do encounter logistics headache and higher costs as a result of global supply bottlenecks that could continue into 2022, but most companies agree that the hit to profits can be compensated by charging higher prices for their goods.
Companies globally pushed the alarm button reiterating that supply issues do them harm months ago that have pushed prices higher on raw materials from chemicals to wood and steel in addition to semiconductors.
In earnings reports this week, investors got a closer look at how companies are managing.
“It starts with really strong price,” said General Motors CEO Mary Barra in a call with reporters. “We were able to do very well with full-size trucks and full-size SUVs. We just can’t build enough of those vehicles”, she added.
