The United States Secretary of the Treasury, Janet Yellen, called upon G7 countries to go big on stimulus spending to help economies recover from the impacts of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Yellen’s remarks on Friday came during a meeting of G7 finance ministers and central bank leaders, Reuters reported.
“The time to go big is now,” Yellen said, noting that this is the best way to achieve a robust and lasting recovery.
The Treasury Secretary also pointed to the need of the U.S. to lead the global efforts to combat climate change and support struggling economies during the pandemic.
“We understand the crucial role that the United States must play in the global climate effort.”
