The U.S. Dollar (USD) remained mostly flat on Thursday, following the release of official data that showed a decline in the number of initial claims for unemployment benefits in the United States.

The Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the greenback’s performance against a basket of six major international currencies, is marginally down by 0.04% at 90.33.

The index has been moving today in a tight range between 90.26 and 90.47, after closing Wednesday at 90.37.

There were 793,000 initial claims for unemployment benefits in the U.S. during the week ending on February 6, the data published by the US Department of Labor (DOL) revealed on Thursday. This reading followed the previous one of 812,000 and came in worse than the market expectations of 757,000.
