The US Bureau of Labour Statistics (BLS) stated on Friday that nonfarm payrolls (NFP) increased by 187,000 in August. This result was higher than the market forecast of 170,000. On the negative side, the 187,000 increase in July was reduced down to 157,000.
The unemployment rate rose to 3.8% in August, up from 3.5% in July, while the labour force participation rate increased to 62.8%, up from 62.6%. Furthermore, wage inflation, as measured by the change in Average Hourly Earnings, fell to 4.3% from 4.4%.
