US media reported that US authorities said that about 8.8 million Texas residents were still facing water supply problems after an unprecedented frost wave damaged power plants last week.
The authorities still advise millions of Texas residents to boil water before using it, although all power stations returned to work at the weekend and electricity has returned to most homes with the return of the weather to normal.
Officials in Houston, the state’s largest city, said the water there was safe to use without boiling as of Sunday.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott said late on Sunday that he had joined the Air Guard, the Texas National Guard and the US Army to distribute water to residents.
